Sat. trout tournament?

Anyone out there fish the JOC trout tournament on Saturday or was it cancelled? Haven't seen a mention of it one way or the other on any forum. If it was held, there should have been a good turn out.

Sounds like we need to have a bass tournament instead of trout. Looking forward to seeing everyone and fishing again.

I wanted to do some fishing up toward the mts. this weekend. Didn't know what would be the best lake/river to catch some fish. Trying to do something different and wanted to see if some of you had any ideas....

Prize Basset Hound Litter

10/31/09 Bass Report

Fished from 1pm-dark. Caught 2 lb largemouth and small spot casting into baitfish at the mouth of creeks. Fished topwater(buzzbait, sammy) with a few short strikes. Tough day but very few boats on the lake and the temp. was perfect. Had 2 huge smallmouths follow crankbait to the boat but would not commit.

Down Rigger Releases

I am currently using the cannon offshore releases. Sometimes the releases come loose if I dont get line in far enough into the release. Other times I go to far and the release will not release even with a 16,17 inch small fish on it. I would appreciate any suggestions on a better release if you feel one is better than the cannon offshore releases. I have tried both the black and white cannon offshore releases. Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and i'm planning a camping trip at Devils Fork State Park, Oct 21st - 25th. I'm from Charleston, SC and I'm not used to fishing deep clear water, especially from land. I would like if anybody knew any good spots from land to fish, since i can't bring my boat.

I fish for largemouth bass in charleston, but i'm willing to try to catch anything that bites while i am up there. I have alot of tackle and would like if anyone can tell me what type of lures to bring and what colors or techniques to try while i'm up there. Thanks in advance for any information anybody has.

Night Fishing During Fall & Winter

I have just night fished during the summer and have always just tied up to the cable at the intakes. Once the fish and bait move back to the rivers and creeks would it be better to anchor there use hps lights to draw them in at night. Any tips would be appreciated.

I haved not read any new reports lately. Anyone been out on the water lately?

Coast Guard Safe Boating Course

We have a one day safe boating class set up for this Saturday from 9 am to 4pm in Seneca at the Oconee Medical Center. Class will be held in the Oconee Room located off the hospital cafeteria in the old section of the hospital.

Cost is $25 and a textbook is provided. Each additional family member gets in for an additional $12 each.

Course completion gets you a 10% reduction in your annual boating insurance premium. if you want more details call Glenn Barbee at 706-376-0096 as I leave tomorrow for a 3 week deer/elk hunt in Idaho.

Slow trout fishing= hot striper fishing

Took some buddies out on saturday to Hartwell. Got on the water 6:30 and stayed till 2pm. Caught one 5 lb stiper and one 4 lb hybrid.
Fished downrods with BB herring

Picked this one up later in the day

26 lb stiper!

Good day to be out on the water and i was glad i got to put some of my friends on some good fish.....

still waiting on the trout to pick up.......

JOC Trout Tournaments 2009-2010

Hello everyone I wanted to reach out and introduce myself to those I haven't had an opportunity to meet, I am the new owner of JOC. First, let me say thank you to everyone who has been a loyal customer of the store and participant in these tournaments over many years, and I know there are many of you. Fishing has and always will be a core part of JOC, these tourneys included. While the tournaments have been great and well-enjoyed by everyone, as with any change there is an opportunity to step back and seek to make positive improvement, and over the last several weeks we've been discussing ways to increase attendance.

As previosuly announced, dates for the tournaments are 11/14/09, 12/12/09, 1/16/10, 2/13/10, 3/13/10 and 4/10/10. All rules will stay the same, except: (1) entry fee will be reduced to $40 and will be same for all tournaments, (2) 100% payback on Big Fish Pot, and (3) up to 5 places will be paid each tournament depending on entries, with no winner take all tourneys. These tournaments are of course for your enjoyment and we look forward to incorporating more of your suggestions over time.

In addition to the above changes, in an effort to increase attendance we will also be focused on marketing, including website, email, dusting off the Orr mailing lists, and posting flyers at key locations around town. Of course we'll need everyone's help in getting the word out! If you have any specific ideas, please let us know.

While a bit premature to share details, we are also trying to increase sponsorships and hope to be able to use these to offer more of a social gathering around more tourneys since these are really about fun and camaraderie.

On behalf of the team at JOC (Brant, Jackie, Joy, Wanda, Steve and Michael), thank you for all of your support and please let us know if you have any questions or thoughts. See you at the tourneys!

New Jocassee Trout Trail

If Ken and Badcreek and some other supporters held Trout Tournaments with 100% payback would anyone be interested?( plus if we get sponser donations)
Badcreek,Sponsoners, and Ken will need to be eligilble to fish since we don't pocket anything except winnings.
