Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and i'm planning a camping trip at Devils Fork State Park, Oct 21st - 25th.  I'm from Charleston, SC and I'm not used to fishing deep clear water, especially from land.  I would like if anybody knew any good spots from land to fish, since i can't bring my boat.

I fish for largemouth bass in charleston, but i'm willing to try to catch anything that bites while i am up there.  I have alot of tackle and would like if anyone can tell me what type of lures to bring and what colors or techniques to try while i'm up there.  Thanks in advance for any information anybody has.

Jayman,
I recommend that you fish the area's around the two boat ramps directly across from the main ramp at Devil's Fork State Park. Start fishing the ends of these ramps. Baitfish often hang around the concrete and riprap associated with the ramp. Then try any shoreline pockets that you can safely access on foot. I would use a topwater bait, carolina rig and maybe a shakey head set-up as your basics. Good luck! And let us know how you did.

Thanks cpbcop.

Are there any certain colors that work good.  I have been reading the older posts and it seems that green pumpkin is a good color.  I have already packed different types of worms in green pumpkin, watermelon/red and a couple in like plum, red bug and black/neon.  Are there any other colors that I should bring.  Once again thanks for the help.

JUST WANTED TO LET YOU GUYS KNOW HOW I DID.  CAUGHT ONLY ONE FISH, BUT IT WAS A SOLID FOUR POUNDER SMALLMOUTH.  DIDN'T CATCH ANYTHING NEAR THE TENT SITES OR THE BOAT RAMPS.  THURSDAY WE TOOK A CANOE TRIP TO THE WATERFALLS AND NEAR I BELIEVE "WRIGHT CREEK" THERE WAS A COVE WITH A DEEP ROCK WALL DROP OFF.  I THREW IN A WACKY STYLE KINAMI FLASH STICK BAIT AND IT DRILLED IT IN NO TIME.

THE LAKE IS GREAT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THE ONLY FISH I CAUGHT.  CANT WAIT TO TRY TO MAKE IT BACK UP THERE IN THE SPRING.

Great job Jayman! Your fishing odds definitely improve if you have access to a boat on Jocassee. Glad to hear that you caught a smallmouth. Been looking for a decent sized smallmouth myself since last spring. They have gotten a little few and far between these days. I may have to try wacky rigging a few baits and try my luck.
