| #1 | Fished from 1pm-dark. Caught 2 lb largemouth and small spot casting into baitfish at the mouth of creeks. Fished topwater(buzzbait, sammy) with a few short strikes. Tough day but very few boats on the lake and the temp. was perfect. Had 2 huge smallmouths follow crankbait to the boat but would not commit.

Had a full day of fishing on Weds. with little to show for it from a "fish on!" standpoint. However, it was a great day on the water just the same. Fished points (deep and shallow), blowdowns and creeks from front to back with only two small spots to show for the effort. I observed numerous balls of bait on the graph but no big fish nearby. I think that the full moon and clear skys following cold front passage had them in a funk. Their schedule is currently different than mine. I think they will settle in and start to bite good in another day or two. All in all a beautiful, peaceful day on the lake. Plus, was rewarded with a black bear sighting in the area west of the horsepasture. The bear was standing on all fours in the back of a small cut with running water. No camera!!!! It would have been a great photo. |

I guess that bear was one of the lucky ones to survive the last two weeks of bear season. |

Nothing against hunting. I did my fair share as a young man. But I can't imagine anything but remorse after shooting a bear as magnificent as the one I observed. Now if he was intent on making a meal of me, I could take him out with no remorse or regrets. He would be a rug in short order. Beyond that, he can go his merry way and reward me with an occassional sighting. |
